A year is a long time in modelling, many things come and many things go, styles change and new kits will appear. Challenges will crop up and will be dealt with either by knowlege or by chance, somethings however will still be the same, this is my year in modelling.
The modelling year at Average modeller HQ starts the day after the return from that years pilgrimage to Shropshire and Scale Model World, with first things first, we take the obligitory photo of that years purchases and then we put them all away. Normally I avoid the workbench for weeks however this year has been different and although no modelling has been done as such I have given the workbench a much needed clean, I have stripped down and cleaned the airbrush I have also given the spray booth and associated bits and pieces a clean and a hoover. As I sit here nearly 2 weeks after the event feeling quite positive about the modelling year ahead, feeling determined to strike while the iron is hot and feeling quite inspired to model throughout the year, keep the blog updated and to add something a little bit different every 2 weeks or so I am going to narrate if you like my modelling year.
A lot can happen ā¦ā¦ The best laid plans and all of thatā¦. I started the year with the best of intentions, plenty of bench time, lots of kits getting close to either the end of the build, already primed or in the case of my Tamiya 1/35 Churchill already painted and ready to be finished, the Christmas break was fast approaching and I was getting ready to roll however life always has a different idea. As we approached the Christmas break I knew that there were going to be a few days where bench time was a possibility, and I knew that there would be days when it was family time and I also knew that once Boxing Day was through the only stumbling block between myself and the bench was me. Not everyone models the way I do and sometimes it is nice to build and finish something that isnāt static, donāt get me wrong I love modelling and the headaches it brings however from time to time I like to build something that moves and gets you outside so I decided to build one of Tamiyaās lovely radio controlled cars, I chose to build the NSU TT on the M-05 chassis and also finish off my Lunchbox black edition, I had been running the lunchbox chassis around for a while so it was nice to get it finished off, the NSU is nearly finished however it is just waiting for paint, sounds like a same old story to me and I hoped to get it done before I went back to work yet life being what it is that opportunity has yet arrived, it is on my to do list and I hope to get it done soon.
